PEMBA CHANNEL BIG GAME FISHING CLUB, KENYA

The Pemba Channel is widely known, not only as the best place to fish in Kenya but probably the best place in the whole of Africa. The Pemba Channel Fishing Club has a worldwide reputation for its Marlin catches, holding 75% of all marlin records caught out of Shimoni, 54% of all Kenyan marlin records and 7 all-Africa marlin records.  You, too, could have your name up in lights, as many records are still vacant.

With the impressive, big game sport fishing boat White Otter, operating from Shimoni we can accommodate salmon fishermen, fly fishermen, deep-sea anglers and complete novices with the help of our very professional skipper and crew, who have a combined experience of over 120 years between them!  ‘White Otter’ continues to hold the record for catching, tagging & releasing 116 marlin in one season.  One of our skippers is the owner of the boat, Peter Ruysenaars, who started fishing the Pemba Channel in the mid 70’s.  He took over The Pemba Channel Fishing Club in 1990 and is the proficient part time skipper of ‘White Otter’; as enthusiastic as ever, sharing his expansive knowledge and fascinating stories with his clients.

The Pemba Channel is Africa’s premier marlin destination.  At 0630 you leave the moorings to begin your fishing day; you soon find yourself scanning the translucent blue depths of the Pemba Channel, where there can be found Striped, Black and Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Broadbill, Mako, Tiger and other sharks, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Giant Trevally and many other lesser game fish.

We practice a 100% tag and release policy which is pursued by all of our boat crews and skippers and The White Otter operates under International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) rules, which oversee and govern game fish records throughout the world.  We are an official IGFA member.

For a completely different thrill, why not take a trip night trolling for Broadbill and experience the challenge of this cunning night feeder?

There’s something for all tastes and levels of experience, so please read on and find out all you need to know about this justifiably fabled big game fishing destination.
